Having finished an all-day measured survey to pick up this stunning 4500sq ft chalet house the ‘as existing’ floor plans have finally been drawn up and as you can see they are quite large in footprint. However as the dwelling is in Green Belt it’s not quite so easy as extending a dwelling that is otherwise not situated in such an area.

There are strict requirements under planning that are in place to prevent over-development of dwellings so you have to ascertain the existing original square footage, allow for any additions that have been made over the years and this leaves a certain area you can extend by! All this needs to be proved to the planning department at time of application and a lot to consider especially meeting a client’s expectations as to the size / style of extension they would like. You can extend in Green Belt areas, but it comes with restrictions.

The existing floor plans shows the journey along the way….
